Organic Flesh Plugs and Tunnels, Double Flared
Please Note Organic Double flared plugs and tunnels. The size stated is for the thinnest part of the plug. The ends are slightly wider (about a millimeter wider) which is how they stay in. To get them in means a bit of a stretch. This is easy if your holes are loose, like a month after stretching, but harder on a fresh stretch. So we advise being at a size for a few weeks before buying a double flared plug in that size. Then, organic plugs like these are really comfortable to wear and change. Read more about double flared plugs at the bottom of our ear stretching information page.
The horn and bone used in our jewellery comes from water buffalo farmed in Asia. The animals are reared and killed for their meat. The horn and bone are a by-product of the farming industry. If the bones and horn were not used for carving, they would be discarded. All these items are handcarved in rural communities in Indonesia. The prices are set by the suppliers, and the carvers are very pleased to have the trade. The carvers come from families of hand carvers who have homed their skills over many generations.
'Organic' materials allow the ear lobe to 'breathe'. Some people find that wearing steel, acrylic or glass can make the lobe a bit smelly.. (nice) Wearing horn, bone and wooden jewellery definately helps with this, which is why some stretchers promote 'organics' as the best material to use for long term primary use, but its all a matter of taste really.

Organic Stretching Jewellery
Organic jewellery allows the skin to 'breathe' this can significantly cut down on the build up and smell of sebum in the ear. Organics are a good idea for those that find this a problem. Also people see organics as the most traditional and therefore authentic material to use. We feel all types of materials have their place, organics are particularily good for long term primary use.
Caring for your Organic Jewellery Dont get your organic jewellery too wet. Remember to remove your jewellery when bathing or swimming, and refrain from soaking your jewellery in anything. Do not autoclave organic body jewellery.
Buffalo horn has grain, just like wood. It is important to protect horn and bone jewellery from too much water, as this may cause swelling and could eventually result in the grain of the jewelry cracking. Horn and bone can be lightly washed with a mild soap and a lttle water if needed, but its preferable to clean with just a few drops of essential oil on a soft cloth. |
