Turquoise is one of the oldest mined minerals. The figure on the ceremonial knife from Sicán in Peru pictured on our 'I am not my body' page originally had turquoise plugs in its ears, showing that turquoise has been used for flesh plugs for thousands of years!

Obsidian is a naturally occuring volcanic glass and has been used for thousands of years for all types of jewellery. This 'Spiders Web Obsidian' has thin strands of a lighter mineral within it, presenting a beautiful 'cracked' or 'web' like appearance. This obsidian is much harder to source and therefore more expensive than other stones.
