Helix Earrings

Browse our selection of helix earrings and jewellery for wearing in your helix piercing.
The helix is the prominent, curved outer rim of the outer ear. They can take a while to completely heal but are worth it!
Flat-back labrets are stud earrings which are perfect for helix piercings, especially during the first 3-6 months.
The flat back won't catch on your hair potentially irritating the piercing.
Once healed you can safely wear segment rings, clicker rings or circular barbells and get creative and mix things up.

Choose 1.2mm gauge bars with a length or 6mm or 8mm.
Or 1.2mm rings with a diameter of 6mm, 8mm or 10mm depending on the size of your helix and the look you are going for.
(Some people have their helix pierced at 1.6mm but this is fairly rare)

Helix Earrings FAQ

Thinking of getting a helix piercing?

Needle or a gun for helix piercing?

Always go to a professional studio and insist on a single-use needle. Never use a piercing gun. The force of a gun can damage cartilage permanently and hinder healing.

How do I look after my helix piercing?

Wear a labret stud (Flat Back) for the first 3-6 months. Spray the front and back of the piercing at least once a day with a saline solution. Resist the urge to twist and turn the jewellery. Be very careful when brushing your hair not to catch it. (ouch) Try and sleep lying with your head on the other side.

What size bars and rings to wear as helix earrings?

You will be pierced at 1.2mm guage. You will probably be fitted with an 8mm length bar with a flat back labret initially to account for any swelling. Once healed you can switch down to a 6mm labret for a more snug fit or stay at 8mm if you have thicker ear cartilage.

The same goes for rings. Nearly always 1.2mm gauge. The diameter of rings for helix piercings ranges from 6mm to 10mm and depends on you own ears anatomy and what look you are going for.

Segment Rings? Clicker rings? BCRs? Whats the difference?

Nowadays most segment rings are hinged segment rings. These are also known as 'Clicker Rings'. The are easy to put in and take out as they just click closed. They are by far the easiest ring to wear in cartilage piercings.
Ball closure rings (BCRs) were the original piercing rings. The ball pops into the ring to close it. They can be a bit fiddly and are worn mainly for the old skool look they give. Theyre still a popular choice as they last forever!
